I just moved house and was with Sky for ages. Decided to cancel because they were increasing their prices, I was about to finish the contract anyway and thought i'd save on a few weeks worth of broadband since I wasn't going to be in the country.

Looking for a new ISP now, but will also be in the US for 3 months so the broadband will not be used at all. Am I better off just taking a 12 month contract and letting it sit idle for the 3 months? Or are there better options? I've been looking a bit at one month contracts, but most of them charge an installation fee and have higher monthly costs, which overall, I'm not sure works in my favour since would be back after the 3 months.

Help, oh wise collective of OcUK :)

Going in mid July so about 4 months.

Use is general browsing, online gaming and Netflix. Too long/much to get by just with a phone connection.

I THINK and not sure at all, i once checked my WiFi usage and it was around 130-150 GB/month. Could be way off, but Netflix would be a decent chunk of bandwidth.

Thanks guys. i'm paying about £20 at the moment and don't see myself paying a huge amount more than this. Sounds like it'll be best to just suck up the 3 or so months.
