Ok heres the situation , its complicated so bear with

Currently have VM 2 for £20 package with 2mb broadband and the small TV package.

This expires on the 20th September.

I've just been on the phone with them and it will be £30.50pm to upgrade to the 4MB package which is laughable lol.

Do you think they will give a better deal if I threaten to quit?

Heres the next problem, I don't have a BT telephone line atm so how much will it cost to get one installed? How long will BT take over it? I have even ripped all the telephone cables out of the house.

Currently have a VOIP cable router which has a virtual telephone line with normal number.

I think I've cornered myself here. Virgin seem to do better deals for their new customers. So If I quit and restart do you think that is good idea? IT will result in too much downtime though I reckon. Its not like they are quick to reinstall their setup.

I live in London and I can get every possible ISP inc Be 24 which is what I want.

But that wil be £24 to BE + £11 to BT + no TV either (Not that VM cable is great)

I'm happy with VM cable but you can get capped after 350mb in peak time which they can just shove up their backside tbh. ITs so irritating as im on the 2mb package. Mainly download 30gb ish a month from usenet.

You get what you pay for. NTL is rubbish, has always been rubbish and I suspect always will be rubbish (im being polite here)
Do yourself a favour and get an adsl line from a reputable supplier. I assume there is a master socket still in the house? BT can normally switch on a line fairly quickly.

Virgin have given people some very good deals, when haggled, although I haven't heard much recently, so don't know if they still do as much.

I'm sure I spoke to someone on Virgin 20MB for £27... over £30 for 4MB seems very over priced...

I would go for Be if I were you.

I think I'll call up to quit and see if get better deal.

ridiculous price for 4mb for sure

unfortunatley quitting isn't an option as I have a voip line setup already.

Virgin capping is ridiculous what the hell would you want a 2mb line to download a 300mb file for just recently i have noticed this happening thinking about jumping ship myself if it gets any worse

i mean being penalised for actually using something you have payed for if i just wanted to surf the web during peak times i would still be on dial up even streaming video is not possible with that sort of limit had no problems with telewest but i think virgin are carp

never recieved any notice of this change of policy not the way to treat loyal customers i was expecting a boost to my connection eventually not for them to cripple it

Do they usually match offers for new customers to existing ones?
