Hiya gang

Thinking of moving from my current ISP due to severe lag issues in the evenings, making it impossible to play wow and bf2142.

Currently with virgin on there 24.99 a month service (upto 8mb and has fair usage policy).

Anyone recommend an ISP that offers a similar deal at a similar price.?

Well if ure having problems with virgin the best thing to do is ask around your area or who uses the same exchange as you and find out what they use.

I currently with xifos.net - pay a little bit more but the service i have received so far has been EXCELLENT!

I left Virgin for the same reason, pings of 200+ weren't uncommon.
Moved over to idnet.net get pings of around 50-70ms. Packages are the same price as virgin, but you don't get any extras, just broadband (no webspace).
Happy with them so far, although I've only been with them two months :)

Been looking at Nildram/Pipex or maybe Seriously Internet.

What do people think of these?

Mainly use the net for torrents, gaming and web.

Forget Nildram they owned by pipex now and they have introduced shaping which means torrents will be poor

yup I use ADSL guide, I was asking on here because I prefer real user opinions of service.

Virgin on paper looks a cracking deal, sadly the performance is poor.

Do we have any eclipse evolution users in the forum?? what do people think of them?

Hi

recently had a new ISP listed at News-Shack that is designed for game players .. its not cheapest but they have own games servers and such

not pimping them as i dont use them and dont know anyone that does but might be worth investigating anyway

dont think guests have viewing permissions at News-Shack now but worth a peek and google the name if you dont wish to reg though everyone is welcome to reg free and no commitments

News-Shack Feature

hope thats some help

they are good im currently hitting 100+ in BF2142 and 1000+ in wow
:(

got to wait 3 more days for my regrade BT haven't done their thing yet.

NDO did however email me to advise this.

that is good, i had to pester virgin for my 8mb regrade.

mmmh seems now tho that virgin might not be my only problem, just checked on the plusnet exchange checker and it states that my exchange is at VP Red (Virtual paths)

Even using the BT speedtest domain I get slow speeds, so I guess I could have issues with my phone exchange and my isp, joy of joys.

Anyone every had any luck sorting out problems with there exchange via BT, or is it a matter of going through your ISP.

Yep; we've been with them since mid-September, on option 3. Good service so far, no downtime that I know of. Download speeds fluctuate according to time of day, although they don't seem to drop below 100KB/sec so it's not a huge problem. Would still be nice to have 400KB/sec downloads all the time though!

In any case, I'm quite happy with it. They connected us a day and a half earlier than they had said they would too, which was a nice surprise.
