This is extremely lazy but I need broadband service which is relative fast, 4mb or better, and with large download quotas, 40GB or more.
I would also like none of the ports blocked.
What are my options?

Blueyonder.. well Virgin Media would provide set speeds (4mb or 10mb) however with a revised FUP they have written in traffic shaping and will probably enforce it at a certain bandwidth limit.

Sky have implemented this too. You can get up to 16mb from them via ADSL2. My brother works for Sky and turns out Sky will only traffic shape once a person reaches 200-250gb / month.

Best to hear high-bandwidth users comments on all the major ISP's around just now though.

*subscribes to thread* I need similar info as well. I was about to join telewest, but it appears Branson's curse for not getting things done has spread. We supposed to join back in December, but it's the middle of Feb, and still nothing, oh well - over to someone else we go....

I have heard that UKFSN are good?

Give them a call, yiou prob get things moving quicker and prob get a few discounts for the first 3 months as well. Depending on Area, usually the service is second to none.

www.thinkbroadband.com has everything you need to know about every UK ISP.

They even have forum sections dedicated to each specific ISP, and Comparison charts, where you can see how users rate each ISP against the others.

UKFSN HomeMAX 60, 60gb peak, 330gb of peak £29.99, or the HomeMAX 30 which is 30gb peak, 300gb off peak for only £19.99, peak hrs are 8am till 10pm, off peak is 10pm till 8am and all weekend, excellent service, get 6mb here, and its a monthly contract.

I have been calling them non-stop. They have nice people on the other end of the line, and they have been fairly honest about what's going on. It's just annoying since were students and have better things to do then run around after people like this.

i heard that sky are now throttling certain ports..
anybody have any experience with supanet.. according to my search criteria that was the only provider that showed up..
do you only get a free modem if you sign up for a year?
