ISP check(Thinking of leaving AOL)

Hi all

Im just wondering if their is any good software to monitor my internet connection.I have been with AOL for years and never really had any problems.I used to download quite a lot and was wondering if i was having my speed throtled.
Im on an 8Meg unlimited deal but am thinking about changing.I dont live to far from the exchange id say 700m but the only isp showing as LLU at my exchange is talk talk(This is part of AOL but ive never heard of any1 with a good experience in my area)
So if any1 can shed any light on who is good

General consensus according popular opinion and also by comparison on Thinkbroadband would say that TT is as crap as AOL.

I've added PlusNet and Zen as a good measure too, PlusNet being a cheap service which has an acceptable reputation and Zen being a more costly business orientated provider which generally in my experience stands head and shoulders above most of the competition.
