Was 150 yds from OCUK - now 0.5 mile; they moved
I'm moving house on the 29th December.

Anyway Ive been with Virgin for around 12 years! I'm on the 100MB connection.

My new place is outside of VM cabled zone, 31st December is the launch date for BT FTTC for my new place, which is fine but the first install will be the end of Feb for an engineer so I've had to go with ADSL for a few weeks.

I have opted for the BT ADSL install being installed on 10th Dec, the only other date currently available was the end of Jan, I cannot book an FTTC engineer until the 31st Dec for so i expect the engineer dates to be February by then.

Anyway what is the ADSL BT Home Hub 3.0 like? And the 2-3MB estimated ADSL connection I guess will annoy me for a month! lol

31st is just a holding date, you might have to wait a bit longer for FTTC.

HH3 isn't bad, lack of 4 gigabit ports is slightly annoying.

I found the wireless on the HH3 to be rubbish. I only used for a few hours before putting it back in its box.

Yes, I am aware it may take a month or so longer. Hence ordering ADSL - I'm not in any major urgent rush for Infinity.

Don't want to use 3G or mifi as I game lots, low pings are quite important, bandwidth less so.

BT's HH3 is good if not excellent from hearing reviews from friends who use it. Although it doesn't have 4 Gigabit ports (Only 1 while the rest are 10-100Mb/s) Better than Virgin's equipment anyhow, lol. 2-3Mb/s you say? How far from the exchange are you from checking on websites such as SamKnows and BT's website?

ADSL will annoy you, but you may get better than rated which is 3Mb/s like you said. All you can do is cross your fingers and hope it's a grade A setup and the lines are good supplied to your new house. Once you get Infinity/FTTC you'll be happy so really test it out :) You've got nothing to lose other than your Virgin Connection. :)

bt adsl is fine as is the hh3. if the line can handle it (a good filter helps), request fastpath for a 15ms ping on the thinkbroadband bt forum. interleaved ping is ~30ms

3KM is far and 3Mb/s is good if not great for that distance. Let's see though; you may get faster by 1Mb/s more. All depends on the quality of line supplied and the quality of the install.
