ISP price war?

I was downloading at my usual 300kb/sec when my internet (tiscali) cut out, 10 minutes later it was back downloading at 1.2mb/sec :eek:

A day later my dad calls me to say he's now getting free broadband from talk-talk.

I'm in no way complaining but is there some kind of price war going on?

I've just checked mine and they've uped the download speed (finally) from 1mbit to 2mbit.

Uploads gone up to 800kbit too. Don't know if this has happened recently.

It's good my friend, there's so many ISP's in England now all they have to do is scrap the stupid connection fees, 120 pounds, seriously, for what, some guy to flick a button down the street?

BT charge ISPs these fees so they pass it on to the customers
