Hi

I am on the look out for a new isp. I left ADSL24 after the service went slow and migrated over to o2 Access (no llu in my exchange). I am sure most people know that the o2 Access service is having problems that result in it being very poor between 2pm until the early hours of the next day so I am in need of a fresh isp. I would like an isp that can offer me decent pings for my ps3 and it would be nice if there was a reasonable usage limit each month. Are Entanet resellers an good now ? I know a lot of people had problems with speeds and throttling when they change some system with bt ?

Thanks

Ps I do not have cable either so it has to be a bt line isp

I'm still with ADSL24 and it seems to have settled down now, for me at least. Getting good download speeds, currenlty about 800kbps.

For gaming, you can'y go wrong with Entanet imho. I spent ages going from one ISP to another before Enta. Pings range from 11ms to 14ms. Its great!

You could try TitanADSL. They seems to get rave reviews, and they use Enta.

I am with ADSL24 and all though i sometimes do get effected by congestion i normally never see speeds lower that 200/kb which for surfing the web is more than ample. I would say though that my pings are always solid getting 30 - 40ms to most UK servers. For the price i have no complaints.

I here good things about AAISP, i know they have very limited download quotas during peak times but peak time is only from 9am to 6pm Mon - Friday. I am tempted to give them a try.

Thanks for the replies, I did like the support at ADSL24 when I was with them before because they did try and communicate with customers via their forum. I would grab a 30ms ping with both hands at the moment because I have had to put up with 120ms pings with o2 Access.

Zen if you can't get another LLU provider that is any cop.

Having said that I'm visiting my parents at the moment who are with ADSL24 and it seems to all be OK at the moment - Milton Keynes node I think.

Having said that they only get a 1.5Mbit line so probably wouldn't notice any of the slowdowns that people with high syncing lines do :)

After reading this it makes me feel lucky that I have O2 LLU in my area as the Access package is sounding very shabby nowadays!

Have a look at UK Online, I was with them (LLU) but some of my mates are with them connected via the BT network and have no problems at all with congestion.

If you can get Demon then I can vouch for their service. They're not cheap but they offer very good support and a consistent service. The FUP isn't too 3rd Reich either. they're primarily business orientated but from what I've seen their domestic service is better than the business service. At least for billing anyway, they don't do invoicing and credit accounts well, direct debit is fine tho.

Well I have decided to go back to ADSL24 after my bad experience with o2's Access service. One thing I have learnt is it really is dodgy signing a 12 month contract with an isp that is not LLU. I know Enta packages change on the 30th March and it is anyone's guess on how the ALT stuff will work out but at least the 1 month contract is a get out of jail card if things go pear shaped.

I'm with Orange. They've got some bad press in the past but its been almost 2 years and I've only had one network outage that I can recall. Plus if you have a mobile with them its free 8mb inc a siemens wireless router!

Think it is only free if you can get their LLU service.

my virginmedia gives me pings of around 20 on most CS servers and i have never had any issues with them (im on the 20mb line).

I have 50mb being installed on wednesday too :D

Like I said in the opening post the isp would have to be on BT and not LLU or cable. I have moved over the ADSL24 in the past few days and pings are back down to 30 instead of the silly 120+ on O2 Access.

Could be worth checking that your line isn't being interleaved, log into the ADSL24 control panel thing on their website and have a look. There is an option to force it off if you get it auto on by BT.

It may make your line unstable but if it works fine then it will lower your latency a bit.
