Hi people.

I'm on pipex been with them for 2 months and i've got a email saying i'm downloading to much.
Not to happy about about this as i have been with them for over 4 years now. Moved house twice and had them as my isp. I'm on home office and now i've got a email saying i'm downloading to much on my 2mbit connection.
I've sent them a letter saying i rang up and spoke to someone about this and i got told i was a fine on home office to download as much as i want.

So what isp don't seem bothered about downloading what you like?
Does anyone have any please?

Thank you.

I don't know i'd say around 35gig a week maybe.
Total joke!!!

I see after a day they've not gotten back to me after my email i sent them!

I'll be moving but not sure who to.
I have 2mbit and they say you can't use it to it's max total joke!!!

If it says unlimited then thats what it should mean. Amazing that friends of mine in sweden norway and usa can have anything fromm 10mbit to 100mbit and have no limits what so ever. But good england again !!!!

Hi

Pipex have never been cheap but they have been quality in the past but slowly the service has degraded and now the "fair deal traffic management" is one step too far ... im not against the principle but limiting a users bandwidth at peak times will just cause trouble and stress .. lets face it most users whatever their download habits want the best service at the most appropraite times .. peak time max band width is the key issue even if a user just wishes to watch a movie on demand or use a game server or video chat ... even listening to online radio uses a fair bit ... IMO if they are currently struggerling to provide a useable service on 2M/b connection at all times then how are they gonna cope when 8M/b is about & users want high bandwidth apps like ive already mentioned at peak times ... oh well no matter ive already migrated .. will try another ISP for a month and see how that goes

May i ask where did you move to mate?

I got an email back from Pipex today as I had asked them for further details on what was considered unfair usage etc.

I was told that, if I wished, I could dowload at my connections full rate as much as I wanted as long as I ease off the bandwidth between 18:00 and 00:00.

To me this seems quite fair as if you really want to be downloading that much then 18 hours a day at full whack should be more than enough for even the most heavy user. even on 1mb that equates to something crazy like 54.4GB a week

I agree with you they never told me that at all.

I'll mail them and see what they say . Hopefully it will be the same as they told you.

Thanks for the info.

Im with AOL currently @ £30 a month for a 2MB "uncapped" service, but for the past few months now my machine doesnt like the new connection service they have that is suppost to make it better, as it sometimes freezes my machine, and involves unplugging and plugging back in the modem before I get my machine back, and think that paying an extra £5 a month is worth the money for a quality service :D

Looks like Zen for me then i think. As for AOL i wouldn't let that cd go anywhere near my computer :p
