ISP upping downstream from 1Mb to 2...what about upstream?

Hi guys,

My ISP should shortly be upping my downstream line speed to 2Mb from 1, i was wondering what would happen with my upstream connection speed? Its currently at around 288 - will it be increased to 480kbps ish automatically, or will i have to ask for it to be done also?

normally the upload stays at 256 KBps (288 KBps ATM speed) residential connection normally only go upto 380KBps ish which is for 10MB download.

so unless you are on a buissness line then it probly wont change.

My girlfriend has 2Mb and 440kbps up, residential line and ISP...

depnding what your line supports you can have 448 upload and 2mb download with a adsl max i think

Ah right, so if i am using ADSL Max i will have an upload of 440kbps...?

The increase in upload speed will be automatic, but you might not get the 100% rate as it's rate-adaptive (448Kbps)

i had 4mb/576 (512)kb before eclipse upgraded my line to 2mb/256 (200)kb

As Mon says, 380k is more realistic. I think I've got about 370k in speed tests. Better than 256k though

I usually get 373 Kb off a 448 sync after 'overheads' have been allowed for.

Before Max when I used to be on a fixed speed service, I never used to get 256 Kb but usually around 192 Kb again after the 'overheads' have been allowed for.
