While benchmarking my system with SiSoft sandra, I managed to get my Drystone ALU higher than a FX55 while at a slightly lower clockspeed, but my whetstone was a couple of hundred lower.

Then i noticed that my processor supports iSSE3 whereas the FX55 only supports iSSE2.

What difference does this make to Whetstone scores? Is there any way i can run my calculation on iSSE2 to make a direct comparison?

Any help is greatly appreciated..

SSE1 to SSE2 had pretty big changes. But SSE3 is mostly just small improvements to SSE2. So don't expect any massive performance difference :)

It's also a pretty moot anyway since the only compiler that I know of that supports SSE3 is Intel's own. And not many developers use it because 1) it's very expensive, and 2) it's optimised for Intel chips only. Microsoft only goes up to SSE2 at the moment in their VC++ compiler.

Ok, so how do you tweak your whetstone?

And I must say, I won't bother trying to match that..

Just be happy to match the FX57 - Having only paid £150 for my chip..
