Hi all,

Really hoping you can help me fix a couple of issues with my PC (Spec in Signature). Recently bought an RTX 4080 Super closely followed by a Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 and started having these problems since then. All other components remain the same.

I've had this a few times now where the the PC screen goes black and the fans spin up to maximum - Most of the times this has happened the PC has been idle. I've also noticed that sometimes overnight, the screen resolution must drop to 640x480 as all the open windows are rezied and moved to the upper left hand corner of the monitor. Sometimes, the PC can also become unresponsive overnight where it doesnt seem to wake up. Having checked the event log you can see that windows seems to stop responding as theres no log entries from the time it happens.

I've ran stress tests on both CPU, GPU and Memory with no problem, any games I play run fine (MS Flight Sim, Starfield and Cyberpunk) and theres nothing in the event log to indicate a problem. Hardware is running at stock settings and is not overclocked, other than the XMP memory profile being enabled.

The fact that this happens overnight and while the PC is mostly idle is odd and i really cant figure it out.

Would appreciate any and all advice on this.

Cheers.

Hi again.
I can now tell you its not the Motherboard or the M.2 drive as I've swapped them out for brand new devices. The motherboard is a ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING WIFI II and i get similar responses back form that in the I get no post screen and the Boot and VGA lights are on.

Also tried dropping to a single DDR chip and swapping between the two with no joy. So that leaves the CPU, unless is the PSU somehow?! In 30 years of computing i've never had a CPU go bad on me but its the only thing left?!

Anyone have any thoughts?

Sorry guys, i thought i posted this but i somehow didn't!

The PC died and failed to POST after its last reboot which is what prompted the new motherboard and as I had a new M.2 i was going to use for my PS5, I tired that to no avail. So that would leave only the CPU, PSU and memory as the original components.

The CPU then its still under the 3 year warrantee
