Its been fine and dandy though not a great clocker since i got it. Can run without the tlb fix without stability problems, hits 2.7ghz though gigabyte bios is fairly dodgey, AMD overdrive works fine so i only turn up the speed in windows as and when i need the speed.

Just playing cnc3 and it seems inordinately slow, so i check task manager for any glaring issues, lack of cpu usage, see if its loading all 4 cores. first time, it seemed fine, day later after shutting down system for the night and its only using 2 cores according to task manager, device manager see's 4 cores, but only 2 in task and cpu affinity only lists two cores. since i turned on system i played through one level, was stupidly slow, checked task manager and now its down to 1 core, with device manager still listing 4 cores as working fine.

I did do a fairly large batch of windows updates not long ago though i don't think i have any way to go back to just before those updates. Vista, sp1 not listed in my updates yet. I really have no clue whats going on. either something has failed recently, or windows update has screwed with something but i've not seen the issue before on any other quad/dual core on similarly updated vista installs.

If it is a fault, i don't even know, cpu not using all cores, and a cpu fault to blame? or a mobo fault. very very weird.

I can't think why device manager can see all the cores and thinks they are working fine, or why windows still recognises it as a quad core, but it isn't running fully.

well so far 2-3 more boots and all have been with all 4 cores working.

CNC3 can definately use more than one core, the difference between playing when only one core showed in task manager, and 4 was ridiculous, no two ways about it the system wasn't using 4 cores. I just can't tell why, and if it will happen again. As i can't think of a reason for it to not work a few times then be fine after. Like i said, never seen something like this in a long time of working on comps with a lot of chips.

Maybe its been happening for a while and i've not noticed it, gonna keep a closer look out and see how often its happening.
