Issue with Bose speakers

I use Bose companion2 speakers and when i turn my pc on, theres no sound. If i plug headphones into the speakers and unplug them.. Sound magically appears.
Asus impact VII, up to date drivers, fresh windows 10. Anyone has any suggestions how to sort this out?

Maybe try to reinstall audio drivers or seek alternatives. Windows 10 is known to have issues with sound cards so I would not be surprised if it has issues with on board audio too?

Did the speakers behave normally when you were on your previous OS? 7/8.1?

Was same on win8, and on diferent motherboard. ;(

Did you use windows 7 previous to 8/8.1? If so, did they function normally then?

I assume at one point they did not behave like this. If that's correct, did this start happening upon upgrading to a new OS? (7 to 8 for example); or was it fine with 8/8.1, then just just started behaving like this without you really changing anything.

I'm trying to get an idea if this is software related, or whether a hardware fault is to blame.
