Hello everyone.
I hope this is the right place for my question. Please move if not.
I'm having some trouble with Corsair link and some PWM fans. Basically one of my 4 pin PWM Akasa fans is showing up in link as 3 pin and will not go below 1350 RPM.
Last month I got myself the following parts from OCUK. The PC is for Steam and playing games / watching the odd film. -
Intel i5 4760K CPU
MSI Z87I AC MOBO
MSI GTX780 OC 3072MB GPU
250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD
TeamGroup Elite Black 16GB 1600MHz RAM
Corsair CS 550W Semi Modular PSU
Corsair H80i Water cooling
All in a BitFenix Prodigy case. Very nice, all working well.
at the start of July I got a few more fans for my case, a 3 pack of Akasa AKFN-059 PWM, and a set of Corsair Link cables (because I only got one Y-splitter fan cable in with the H80i) from a different website.
The build went fine, all the new fans installed and set to a low RPM in corsair link.
My issue on Friday, after I ran MSI live update and installed a new BIOS update, MS-7851 1.70. All went well, PC restarted and boots to desktop where CLink opens. All my fans were showing no RPMS and still spinning at max RPM from the restart. I uninstalled link and removed the app data and registry info, re installed. and that solved 75% of the problem.
Now the H80i fan 3 will not register as a 4pin fan and will not adjust. I've tried another reinstall. I've adjusted all the settings I could try in the Link interface, I have switched the fan connectors around so a different fan is fan 3, still the same problems. I've tried the 3rd CLink Y-Splitter cable, same problems, switch fans around again, same problem...
I really don't see it being a hardware issue as all 4 fans have been working fine all week and registered as 4 pin fans. Plus if i switch the fans around the problem switches fan also.
The change happened when I updated the BIOS, its the only thing I can think of that is causing the issue.
This is my first build and I'm not really sure what else I could try/do, any help or suggestions would be welcome!
Sorry about the long first post!
