Hey guys.

My girlfriend has a HP DV9700EA laptop and when playing HD content it seems like the laptop is lagging or the codec isnt working correctly.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled VLC and that seems to run normal DVD's fine and other tv shows.

I've tried updating the drivers for the graphics card (forceware 158 or something like that) but i've tried countless websites and they just dont work.

Any help would be great, otherwise her blu ray drive will have to be sent back :(

Is this laptop running Vista? If it is I've encountered a similar problem to this, the solution was to force it to use the maximum performance power scheme (through power options in control panel). Once this had been set the laptop was able to play HD content through VLC without any problems.

Thanks, i'll try that and let you know.
