So I just got my 980TI Strix. However when booting up the card powers up, fans sound like they spin up to 100% but I get no signal. Computer does but into windows as I can shut down (win key, right arrow, enter)

Before putting the card in I uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers and went for a fresh driver install. When it booted the first time the fans were spinning really slowly and the strix logo wasnt on however the two white leds by the power connector were on. After a few times of taking the card out and reseating it with no help, I decided to reinstall all the drivers with my previous card (750 TI) since it's using the same drivers as the 980 TI. This time with the 980TI the stix logo was on and pulsing and the fans was at max.

I have tried using the second hdmi port on on monitor and also tried a dvi cable but no change. I can stick my 750TI back in and it boots up no problem.

I haven't been able to try it in my other computer as it's been in use today, will try it tomorrow.

Computer specs:
i7 4770k @ 4.7Ghz
Maximus VI Formula
Corsair Vengence Pro 16Gb 2400MHz
OCZ ZX Series 850W
Samsung 840 EVO 500GB
Asus VN247H 24"
Windows 7 Pro 64bit

check that your bios is up to date for your mobo and make sure the power cables are securely connected to the mobo.

try doing a clear cmos and see if that helps.

Hello guys.

I have tried the Bios update, didn't work. However as I started to remove the card and thinking about the psu (don't think my 2nd computer has 2 8pins) I unplugged one of the cables and noticed the corner of one of the sleeves had been damaged, maybe even a little melted.

Changed both psu>pcie cables to new ones and that seems to have fixed the issue, can now boot up into windows with a display!

This is the cable

I had the cable plugged into an extender cable because I wanted white braided cables so I didn't see this plug untill I was going through all the plug this morning.

Many thanks for your help and quick response.
