Netgear DG834 router arrived today, started to go through the setup wizard no problems until it got to the bit where you go to http://192.168.0.1 and have to enter username and password, default admin and passworkd respectively, however I get you are not verified to access this page, been through it 3/4 times double checked everything and can see no reason why it won't work

I'm on tiscali if that makes any difference?

cheers, totally stumped here

*edit* sorry typo on the router access address

You access the router @ http://192.168.0.1/

admin
password

I'm not sure but maybe you need an XP Administrator account to use the router login. The other possibility is that the router has had the default password changed. To reset the router to defaults, hold the reset in for 10 seconds.

Just maybe the username/password isn't what it should be.

Find the reset button and reset the router to defaults and start again.

thanks for quick replies guys, tried re-setting it but still no luck

when it opens the IE window it goes to http://192.168.0.1/localstart.asp

and automatically comes up with 192.168.0.1/admin for the username, I've tried that and admin both doesn't seem like it wasnt to play ball - I've tried it Firebird also but same problem

If you have a software firewall running, try disabling it. Have you tried clicking the link in my post above because I get a login box with Netgear DG834 at the top.

disabled software firewall and did a full factory re-set (as per netgear website) for the second time and it's now working
