Just threw together a Krypton i5-2500 overclock pack from OCUK, and it has an odd problem. Upon initial power on the lights come on, the fans spin up, but it doesn't reach POST. Instead the PC cycles down, then cycles up again. The second time round it proceeds to POST - though on one occasion (out of five) it has hung before POST on the second lap and I've had to power down at the button and try again.

PSU is a Corsair HX850. System is supporting one SSD, two SATA HDDs (Caviar Green, Caviar Blue), one optical drive (HP DVD-RW), Logitech G15 keyboard, Razer Imperator mouse. The only installed card is a Gigabyte OC GTX 560Ti. Total calculated draw is 411W.

Anyone know what could be happening? I've not seen this before.

Try removing the overclock by loading default values.

The overclock settings should still be saved under a user profile to reload from.

Do you turn your PC off at the mains? My PC does this when it has had no mains power or if I make a change in the BIOS.

No, I do not. I did make a change in the BIOS, but only to switch primary boot device from HDD to optical (and back) to reinstall Win7.

I'll try removing and replacing the overclock before reporting as a fault.

Update: PSU cycled down twice on power-up this morning, then POST gave a failed overclock notification. So, it is the OC. Taking it to support, thanks for your help.

A side note on the bundle: optimised default settings appear to go straight to a quite respectable 4.2 GHz clock without any tinkering at all. Something to think on if you plan to buy the parts.

That could be the problem it may be faulty since you have thrown it.

I will go back under my bridge now ;)
