Purchased a slim as my fat got the ylod. Now the issue i have is it will only connect to my network with crossover cable, wont accept normal cat5 (tried 3 cables) however the old ps3 had no problem with the setup. The setup is fine as long as i use crossover for this console, fat accepted normal patch lead.

So i have console > switch > homeplug > homeplug (router) > router

Worked no probs for years and still works fine as long as i change console > switch for x over cable?

any ideas? tried the auto detect and manual settings and still says a ethernet cable is not connected until x over is in then it works?

Latest 3.60 firmware, did it on previous version firmware aswell.

thanks

Can't tell you why it's not working, just that I recently went from an old PS3 to a slim, and I still use the same standard cat5 cable, meaning that something is up with either your PS3, or your cable. Have you got another standard cable to try?

yeah around 200meters and around 40 or so patch leads.

I did try 3 that where around the back of the tv but will get a new one out and try it.

might try the console direct on the router to see if it doesnt like the homeplugs (devolo aveasy 200mbit)

My setup is almost exactly the same as yours, with my PS3 getting online through some homeplugs (cheapo 85mbit Amazon ones), and all works fine. Odd.

i tried it direct on the homeplug without the switch, same problem.

Will try with another cat5 set, i thought it should pick up the connection just the same as the old one, not sure if this could be faulty?

Can't you just leave the crossover cable connected? :P

That'd work, but if it was me I'd want to know why it didn't work as before, much like lemzip.

could do but the question is why as it just seems wrong.

Maybe try returning it? I know that you can get it working, but it's a work around, which you shouldn't have to do on a new product.

yeah, tried everything, direct to the router will only work with x over.

must be faulty lan port, will return tomorrow

thanks
