Hello all, I recently purchased M-Audio BX5 D2 speakers as a step in upgrading my audio. When connecting the speakers to the rear 3.5 mm on the motherboard I am getting constant noise coming from the speakers.

Different frequencies and tones appear when moving the mouse or using the PC in general. I am running a Maximus VIII Hero board.

I had no issues running my soundbar via optical from the motherboard and the speaker work fine via other sources (phone for example).

Will a soundcard fix this issue or would I be better buying an amp that will take optical in and feeding the speakers via the amp?

Any help appreciated.

Sounds like you're getting ground loop or interference issue.

Using optical doesn't result in the same problem, because the interference is transmitted via electrical wire. Optical is fibre and transmits data using light pulses.

A sound card may help, but it depends where the interference is coming from. I'd get a DAC with optical input.

I have been looking at the cambridge audio dacmagic plus, anyone have any experiences with this piece of hardware?
