Hey guys.

System spec -
  • gigabyte z77 sniper m3
  • i5 3570k
  • 16gb crucial tracer
  • corsair ax750w
  • samsung ssds
  • dell 3011

Recently sold my 7970 as I am hardly using my PC.

Took the card out - PC was working fine. Booted up a few times with dvi but I need display port to use my native res.

Grab a DP cable from work, PC will not power on. Plug the DP cable in and my memory LEDs turn on. Pulled out the PSU cables off the board. Plugging in the DP cable lights up the memory.

Problem I have is that the PC only turns on every once in a while with nothing plugged into it now. Resetting CMOS doesn't help.

Could my igpu be screwed? Or is it more likely the DP cable?

The do cable works fine on other computers

Only asking here as its a Sunday. Will take the computer to work tomorrow and figure it out there if need be.

Just removed the board and I think its all good.

Replaced the board in the case and using dvi the system is booting every time. Must just be the display port cable/port
