Behind you... Naked!
I want to throw a distro of Linux onto a Laptop.

The LapTop is a Packard Bell E3242. Its got a 40GB HD so thats plenty, and I have upped it to 512MB and by teusday, the other512MB will be here, so it will end up at 1GB

Its got S3 graphics however.

Now, in the past, I have been semi-ok with Matrox Graphics on the old Tux boxes, and then nvidia till now, but S3 ?

Basically, I have gone with a handful of distros now and even in VESA or SAFE VGA mode, all I seem to be getting is a blank screen????

Im going to be tryign out some of my older distros later on, but does anyone know of a distro that woill go on with no issues like I am having?

Cheers B.T.I

Certainly looks positive, I will let you know as soon as ok?

Many thanks.

PS I prefer Kubuntu ( As opposed to the other flavours of ubuntu ) and I have not yet tried v8 so there's my excuse to do it now!

UPDATE FOR YOU :-

Ok, I have not yet had a play about, but I just threw in BackTrack2 and that gives me 1024x768 just fine!!!

I will be giving UBUNTU another toy about sometime, but for now, BackTrack is doing its job, so, as long as everything else works ok, I might stick with that for now.
