I just bought an Asus Maximus Extreme IV P67 mobo with GTX580 Gainward graphic card and Creative XFI Titanium HD sound card and 8GB Ram.

I installed Windows 7 64bit and nothing seemed to work. I could not make the sound card work, i could not install the latest Nvidia Drivers (got blue screens) and all sorts of problems.

I installed Windows 7 again 32bit this time and everything works fine. Got my sound back, installed latest graphic drivers etc.

The only problem is that i can not use more than 3GB of ram. At least my pc is working now. And lets hope that better drivers for 64bit hardware come out soon.

Most folks including myself are now on 64bit and it works just fine. can you give more detail about your system? I am suspecting your sound card as the culprit for the glitches you are experiencing...

Creative, that name fills me with dread from times gone by

64bit Windows 7 is spot on. If not the sound card maybe your installation media is kaput

I've been running 64 bit Windows since 2006.

These days unless your running old hardware there's no reason not to run 64 bit.

That said 3 year old Creative Music Extream sound card running in Win 7 64 would not work, so moved to Asus sound card.

When i installed Win7 64bit without inserting the Creative card, i tried to install the latest Nvidia drivers and got blue screens. The only driver i had no problems was the 175,33 version. When i installed Win7 32bit i could install the 280,26
When i had Win7 64 bit i had issues with the Creative card. Was not working, could hear strange sounds all the time, speakers not found. With Win7 32 bit everything worked fine.
I have 2 x GTX580 Gainward cards. I tried all the above with just one graphic card.
What i am going to do and please say if its going to be ok, is that, i will installed both graphic cards in SLI (no room fom sound card if i do this) so i will get the Creative 5.1 Usb card and i will install Win7 64bit. Hope this will work with no issues.
