I build a system from scratch in 2009, over the past 12 months it has been developing issues.

examples (these are not actual screenshots of my issues! but from google)

1)The system will freeze and crash randomly, creating 'disk check' on start up.

2)When I boot the system, windows 'logo' appears but wont load the OS.

2)When I boot the system, hard disc isn't detected and it goes to the flash screen, which asks me to select a boot drive/device

3)When I boot the system, it goes to the flash screen, asking me to select a version of windows, or to use memory diagnostic tool.

The above issues happen randomly, separately, or in combination of each other.

To get the system to start and into windows, I need to power off, power on, off, power on, restart, over and over and finally the OS loads.

Anyone have any idea?

if its having issues loading windows it sounds like the HDD is on its way out or corrupt.

does it work ok once check disk has ran at all and then start to have issues down the line?

might be worth checking windows files

open up command prompt and type in sfc /scannow

this will check all of the windows files to make sure they are ok.

I can only see the last example of windows boot manager and cannot see the first two so sorry if I have missed something out

have you done a fresh install of windows at all?

*****EDIT******

can see the other two screen shots now, the computer cannot detect the HDD when its booted up sometimes.

check the power cable and try replacing the SATA cable to the motherboard and also try a different port on the motherboard to see if it helps

is it a SSD your using? as can see your using the sata 3 6gb ports using the marvell controller, try the other sata 3 port as you should have 2 of them

The screenshots are not from my system, I use a normal HD. I change SATA cable ports with mixed results, sometimes it resolves the issue.

I have done a fresh windows re-install, again to no avail. Is it time to get a new system

sounds like the HDD is on its way out, try a different sata port or if you have a spare HDD clone the current drive and restore to a spare and see if the issues go away
