issues with a compaq presario c700

ok first off got the laptop due to having a overheating issue, got that sorted out and had to do a windows reinstall, so my friend went and bough win 7 home prem, installed it but for some reason i cant get the track pad to work
, have installed the drivers etc and no luck. its not even showing under deice manger,
so any1 any thoughts on this issue
previous os was windows vista

Did you get the official drivers for the track pad from the Compaq site?

yes tryed them, am thinking ive maybe damaged the ribbion cable when i had the system stripped down but yet everything else is working fine

I have this laptop and when I changed hard drives I installed win 7 and had no problems with the track pad not working. Silly question but is the light on the trackpad blue?

yep m8 its blue and changes to red/orange cant remember which

Yeah goes to orange when its switched off.
