Issues with additional connections in IE

I thought they may have sorted this in IE but obviously not, either that or its me doing something wrong

If I have an additional connection such as a VPN but I am connected with my normal connection and internet browsing, it keeps going offline with a connection pop up at which point it automatically connects and sorts itself out if you click on any web page link

Remove the additional connection (VPN) and the issue disappears

Anyone know how to sort this please?

The VPN is probably messing with your default gateway - or your VPN network connection also messes with your proxy settings in IE - some corporate VPN connectors do this at connection time which is fine for getting to their intranet, and no use whatsoever for hotmail etc.

route port 80 traffic through your normal broadband connection and not the VPN.
Easiest way to do this would be to configure your ISPs local proxy inside IE. So all web traffic would go via that and ignore your VPN.

Hopefully you wont have to do what I do for my work.. I run a VM on my desktop, and do all my work stuff inside that due to VPN and other 'security' features all wanting to impose themselves on my desktop.
