Hi there.
I'm getting pretty frustrated trying to overclock my reference 290X (wc with H75/Kraken) with Afterburner. I've had to roll back to 14.4 recently because every driver after has caused me stability issues, broken applications etc. Pretty shoddy work from AMD IMO.
I'm using Afterburner 4.0.0 final with these settings:
Here are my issues:
1. Whenever I save an overclocked profile with these settings, next time afterburner opens, I can't reduce the clock from this setting. It will go as low as that clock but no lower. I can reset to 1000 but as soon as I drag the bar it jumps up to my current overclock of 1150
2. With my overclock applied, in Unigine or any application which stresses graphics the GPU will clock down as if it is using powerplay even though I have powerplay disabled in afterburner.
3. Clocks ONLY lock if I have powerplay completely disabled. With powerplay enabled my clocks will never lock at their max even if the game requires them to be.
Here you can see the clocks at the lowest setting it will allow me to.
Press reset, seems to be okay at 1000.
Drag the bar even slightly and it jumps up to 1150 again.
The overclocking experience on this card has been **** at best for me. Anyone have some suggestions that will make my overclocking experience easier? I swear Afterburner never used to exhibit this weirdness, Trixx isn't an option because it's broken and doesn't disable powerplay.
