Not sure where to put this as could go here, servers, Linux or networking, please move if you think it would be better elsewhere.

I have an annoying problem, I have a number of folders on a spare PC running Linux Mint as well as some external drives connected to my router.

I have these folders and drives mapped. When I restart I am able to access the ones plugged into the router straight away with no issues. However, in order to access the ones on the Linux box I have to navigate to them first by using the address that the map points to, I've tried with the NetBIOS name and with the local IP address and neither will reconnect without first accessing it via \\"NetBIOS name"\

Hope someone can help

That's surely an authentication constraint no? If you map the drive in Windows (I assume) and say connect with different credentials and tick "remember these creds" whats the behaviour then?

I've seen something very similar to this before in Windows 9x days. What was happening was a browser master election was taking place. All you need to do is wait a few minutes.
