Issues With My Case

I recently built my new PC and everything seemed perfect until I came to use the front USB and microphone/headphone inputs. For some reason only the right hand USB input works and everything else is unresponsive.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help appreciated.

The USB Connector is definitely on all pins and the HD audio connector is in the right socket.

I've checked and everything is in properly and in the right place.

this, there are usually separate ones for each external USB so this would explain why one is not functional.

Although I am having trouble finding this second USB connector.

Also the case connections are underneath a this, and I have no idea how to get it off or check inside it.

There will be screws or those clippy things underneath, take off both side panels and you should see them.

Got it, everything is connected though.

Take the left hand side panel off.

Can you see all the cables from the front passing next to the harddrive cages?

Are they all coming out under or near the motherboard?

If not, then ones gone missing behind the moytherboard or somewhere.

Traced all the cables and none are behind the motherboard.

Then there must be a break in the cables form somewhere near the top.

perhaps enough if the usb cable has been sliced to stop one set of usb working and the sound cables have a nick in them too.?

There's nothing wrong with them as far as I can tell, could it be a driver issue?

Did you buy the HD 6950?

Check in the control panel under "sound" that the default audio device is set to the motherboard's Realtek onboard sound and not "AMD HD audio" or whatever it's called.

It says Realtek high definition audio.

Right this is weird, I've just plugged some headphones in for a test and now they work. So despite not actually changing anything something has changed.

Could it be that on your first attempt to plug them in you didnt push in far enough? so you thought they were in but weren't

Unlikely, I pushed my headphones in so hard the rubber casing came off the end.

Also I'd have to punch myself if that was the case.
