So ive just built a new PC. since putting it together ive had a few issues that are worrying me and i dont know their cause

1) about 1 in every 3 times when i come to switch my PC on it will power on but before the display kicks in it will reboot, it will normally repeat this 2 or 3 times before successfully booting without issue.

2) very rarely when i come to power on my PC it will get past post and just get stuck on a black screen with a flashing underscore ( _ ) in the top left and will require a power off and back on and then will generally boot no issue.

I'm assuming the issues are Motherboard related but didnt really know where to start so thought id ask the experts

Spec:
i5 2500k (currently clocked, though have experienced issue even without clock)
P67 Sabertooth (Latest BIOS)
8GB Corsair Vengence
2x 560ti SLI.
Water cooled (idles at low 20's, load at mid 60's)

Thanks in Advance.

1) That seems very common with ASUS boards, might even be a "self test" feature, if it annoys you then RMA the board for a MSI/Gigabyte.

Theres definately something wrong here, Im pretty sure this shouldnt happen. I have seen this in the past when a peice of hardware or the bios is playing up. Is your RAM on the QVL list for your motherboard? Check their website and look up the Memory Suppost list for your model motherboard.

Do you have a too harsher overlclock? Try resetting the bios to optimal defaults or remove the motherboard battery and reinstall it.

Maybe your PSU is struggling or the motherboard is borked.

Unfortunately it can be a process of elimination, try booting with the HDD(s) disconnected, does it still keep restarting? Or try booting the system with the bare minimum (motherboard, ram, gfx card, HDD with your operating system on and a keyboard) disconnect everything else - fans (not the CPU one!) expansion (PCI or PCI-E) cards and all usb devices. Any changes?

I was having this recently, check out your kettle plug to your power supply is fully seated and all power connections are fitted nicely on your motherboard. My issue was a combination of a mischievous cat pulling at the cable and a girlfriend hoovering like a loony, or so i think.

Number one sounds like it's trying to boot, cant handle it, tries to boot, cant handle it, then the bios switches to a default setting, tries to boot and manages.

Have you been clocking, in the bios or within windows?

Regardless, this;

Is an option that you will have to take hold of pretty quickly if you are going to, you only have seven days, and it's the weekend soon.

I have a sabertooth too and it only does this when trying to wake it up from sleep mode, iv had to live with it though.
