Hi guys

Just installed my new kit, nzxt 650w psu, msi 7850, 8gb corsair low profile ram and phanteks cooler along with my i5. Basically i have installed windows to my m4 ssd no problem, i have disconnected the network cable so i can install the correct drivers. I used the ones from the cd as with it being a new board they seem to be up to date. I installed the intel usb 3 driver, there was another one but didnt install that. HD audio and the achi driver although achi was enabled by default in the bios before i installed windows to my ssd i wasnt sure if i needed to install it but i did anyway. I had my 7850 drivers as well on a usb pen installed them and it done it very quick which made me think something was up. My 7850's fans are spinning etc but it doesnt seem to be being picked up. I checked gpuz and its says its usibg generic graphics? CCC doesnt appear to be installed either. Im gonna download the latest drivers again, also some of my rear usb ports dont seem to work either i dont know if its because i need to install the other usb driver but i cant see why i would have to if i have already installed the intel usb 3 driver!

Im lost on what to do, i updated the bios to F6 and im reinstalling windows now, should i just plug in my etwork cable and let windows do its thing? or install the drivers myself?

Hope you can help

Liam

Hi there,

The issue with some USB ports not working is likely due to that fact there are some Intel USB3 ports and some powered by a VIA VL800 chip, as you can see in the spec sheet here.

I always install the drivers myself, rather than letting Windows try to find them. Then you know you have the latest drivers.

I'm sure you have, but have you checked the GPU has the necessary PCIe power connectors? I believe your GPU requires just one 6-pin.

Anything on the cd is most likely out of date. Head to the mobos webpage to get it's most current drivers.

What is the monitor plugged into? Did you install the lucid virtu software? If you are plugged into the mobo it will be using the IGP not the 7850 GPU most likely.

cheers guys, i'll make sure i install the via usb driver this time as well. One thing that does keep happening though is i get an error when installing the usb 3 intel driver saying it was not installed properly and when i click on the error it just shows up as unkown device? I installed it again after reboot and didnt get an error this time round tho, just seems wierd to have to install it twice.

As for my graphics card its plugged into the dvi port on my 7850 with one 6 pin extension cable from the main pcie plug from the psu

I'm confused.....you said the computer wasnt "picking up" the 7850.

It was my own error!!! The reason it wasnt picking up my 7850 is because i was trying to install the 11.9 drivers for it! They dont work with those of course cant believe i was so stupid. My rear usb ports also now seem to be working fine after installing both usb drivers, the only thing i didnt install was the marvel controller as i dont intend on using it

Thanks again for your kind help, why is it always stupid things that you cant think of that resolve your issues arggg

Thanks again all
