Basicly my problem is when i turn my machine on it lag's on the bios screne for about a min then starts to boot windows (vista ultimate 64bit) then it will pause again for about 2-3min b4 asking to type my password the once windows has started it its fine anyone got any idea's??

PS. new to the forum so hi all :D

Yup it happens everytime :( and ive installed every update and driver i could find and updated the to latest bios version. is it something im missing in the bios ive set the ram timing and volt

What drive configuration do you have in the BIOS? Also are you booting with an external HDD plugged in?

Well, the pauses sound to me like it might be searching for/initiating a hard disk. How are your disks set up in the BIOS? Make sure the boot order is nice and tidy.

Also, definitely no external disks plugged in? I've never had this problem myself, but I've heard of others with it.

P.S. Welcome to the forum :)

there are no other hdd connected and it pauses on the bios but once it starts laoding it pauses again in between loading windows and asking for password, could it be a problem with the motherboard? what i dont get is once windows has loaded its fine and very fast i rendered my uni work in no time at all

Also do i need set the prosesor in the bios as its just on auto atm?

Heres a random idea, disable the 3.5" floppy drive in the bios in the likely case you don't have one.

Might sound weird, but I found in practically every modern system I've built with vista that having the drive enabled when there isn't one in the system would make the vista install incredibly slow and it would take 20 minutes for the transition between menu screens.

Although your issue isn't with the installer it could very well be the same issue you are facing?

If you've upgraded and are using the same install of Vista, I'd suggest re-installing the OS.
That's assuming you haven't already :D

I dont know why your really that bothered its only a few more seconds of waiting :D.

Just an idea make sure your HDD is in Number 1 or booting Sata not DVD-drive? Just an idea really

Hmmm think i have had this issue before when i bought the dreaded F1s from OCUK
but this was on a x48 chipset so i might be the same issue.

you got any spare HDDS you can try ?

Hummm really??? all i heard was good things about the F1's il try a different hdd when i finish work at 10 :D

I not over botherd just im spending a lot on this machine so i want the best from it if you no what i mean plus its a pain in the arse when i have to restart and we all know how much windows loves to restart

The blue colored SATA 2 slots are controlled by the ICH10R controller, while the white colored slots are tied to the GIGABYTE controller.

First try to POST without a HDD just to eliminate other hardware.
Then swap HDD to alternate controller to see if it improves.
