Issues with old sony vaio laptop

fitted new hard drive as old one was knackered

now it will boot of hirens boot cd even into mini windows xp fine

but when trying to load a new version of windows 7 loads as far as windows screen then crashes

what am i doing wrong please

Do you get any error messages? Tried reseating the drive? Ran any disk checking tools on Hirens Boot CD? Tried putting a Windows disk in to check for startup errors? Those would be the best places to start.

drive checks ok in hirens so does everything else
error message Status 0xc0000017 windows failed to start
boots ok into mini windows on hirens
wont load windows seven

With the windows is it a genuine version you could rip the iso and burn at a slower rate the retry the disk, stupidly i had this issue with a dvd drive and an official version of windows but this worked (also with non genuine version)
