Guys,

i have a few issues which have just recently occurred , I dont think they are related as they have been at different times.

Issue one:

My monitor sometimes wont display my desktop when i turn it on , its not every time just certain occasions , I hear the windows jingle but no display , i have to unplug the power cord to the monitor or even sometimes reboot the machine. I have a Dell Ultrasharp U2711 connected via display port at 2560x1440 using a Radeon 7970.

Issue Two.

I just recently re-formatted my pc to do a clean install of win7 Ultimate , Now when i boot up and after the diagnostics screen is done it halts and asks me two select what operating system to use the options i have are two Windows 7 options???????????

Issue 3.

I have just installed ( yesterday ) a seagate barracude 3tb Hard Drive to my rig ( my Mobo has it can take 3tb+ HHD ) , booted up with no issues , Windows recognizes is it around 2.7tb which is fine , so i transferred some movies across to it , about 1tb worth , when i next rebooted i got a MBR1 error and was told to insert a floppy , After tinkering around with the bios , ie removing my overclock from 4.5 to stock it started to boot into windows , but the system felt really sluggish. Now every time i reboot it takes for ever to load , when it displays "loading windows............" i get a blank black screen with increasing "............... " til the dots get half way across the screen then it boots.

Any ideas??

Thanks

issue one:
any chance the power connector or display port connection is loose ?

issue 2:
did you tell the install to overwrite your previous windows install ?

issue 3:
have you tried a new sata cable , changing the sata port its plugged into.

Thanks for the reply,

Monitor is connected through display port.
Power connectors are fit well.
I did a clean install , re-formatted the drive clean.
Not tried moving sata to another port.

Thanks

Sounds like you have installed a new copy of windows along side your original, instead of formatting and doing a fresh install. What I do is load the windows CD, when I get to the install part, choose the drive you I wish to install and format it, then install windows on it. Always check where windows is going to install itself before going any further, looks like yours has dual booted due to 2 copies of windows.

That is how i done it , when to drive options then format the drive then install to the formatted drive

I found a solution to the 3tb hard drive issue, I went into the bios and changed the PCH Sata to IDE instead of AHCI and the Gsata3.0 to IDE from AHCI and the system boots fine , However i thought that the AHCI setting was the correct setting , but thats what gave me the MBR1 error.
