Suddenly my motherboards onboard audio stopped working. It doesn't recognise any devices plugged into it except USB ones. It just plays static through all my devices that are plugged in to 3,5mm ports. The static starts as it starts booting into windows.

I tried restoring system to before I was updating my GPU drivers still same issue. Tried updating drivers, uninstalling and re-installing hardware same issue.

Just going to try a linux live cd to see if the issue is the same.

EDIT: Also happens in BIOS and booted into Linux Live disc

Just wanted to know if anybody has any ideas?

its the power saving of the mb/cpu and or the front panel usb headers, test by unplugging the cases front panel usb plug on the mb

and test by looking in the bios and turning off c1e power saving, cpu should still downclock aslong as eist is enabled

set the front panel audio to hdaudio or ac97 and see if you get sound

damaged jack maybe ? have you tried it with another speaker/headset (not USB)

It happens to all Audio devices through jacks, speakers, headphones e.t.c which work fine through my other PCS and devices.

Changed audio settings in BIOS and disabled power saving and still the same issue. Also the static playing through all devices still plays in BIOS.

Also note it just plays static constantly either in BIOS or as soon as an OS loads.

EDIT: Contacted ASUS and they asked me to RMA it..
