I enjoy messing around with computers as a hobby, and the local collage's sent out a leaflet with all their courses on, and there's an interesting looking IT one. Its advertised as:

'FdSC in Computer Systems Management (With HP Certified)' (sic)

Its a 2 year part time evening course, and given I'm not doing much with my evenings at the moment anyway would it be worth going on this course, as it would at least give me options for alternatives if I can't get my primary job (I'm at Uni studying Quantity Surveying).

The only thing making me pause is that I've heard of Cisco and Microsoft certified courses, but not a HP one before. Would it be worth more than the paper its written on?

Thanks!

Depends what you want to do with it to be honest.

Have a look at what it's going to teach you and weigh it up against what you think you can teach yourself. If you want it so you can get a job and nobody recognises it then it may not get you recognised on the CV sites but a good employer ought to ask you about it, which gives you the opportunity to tell them what you learned.

If you want it for your own work eg home support then as long as it teaches you what you want then who cares who led the course?
