"it doesn't matter"

Just reply back with "if it didn't matter, or doesn't next time, don't ****** say anything, I was in peace before you said anything".

See if that riles her up in the same way ;)

utter very quietly under your breath "i'll punch you in the ovaries in a minute" and then when she asks what you said... "It doesn't matter!" :p

Give her a taste of her own Calpol.

Happened to me the other day. Tried cracking a joke and the girl I was talking to said what? I said it again and she still looked clueless so I said "It doesn't matter". Then all she kept saying was go on tell me!

Jokes aren't funny after the third time I say them!

lol yup and then they say, well that wasnt funny which makes is even more mundane to of said it heh

The phrase itself doesn't bother me but the way it's said can!

too true...

sometimes i say it in such a way that i just know will get a reaction.. other times, when i hear it .. i know its being said that way.

tho i HONESTLY believe that if i'm vacuuming the hall i surely cant be expected to hear a random request made in the kitchen, can i?

No, because if the other person can't be bothered to listen to me when I speak, I'm not going to repeat it for their benefit - unless it is crucially important.

Often, the joke has passed, and so, having lost it's quality - there's no point in repeating it.
