It Follows

A lot of reviewers I follow and tend to agree with have been saying great things about this film. I loved the trailer when I first saw it and can't wait to watch this tonight.

Looks like a decent slow burn horror, seems to have a nice old 80's style soundtrack and style to it as well judging from the trailer.

Everyone on Film 2015 was creaming themselves about this.
Gonna drag the mrs to go and see it soon hopefully.

So, really enjoyed this if I'm being honest.
It's nice to see a film where they are not using the sudden loud noises to scare you (although that does happen once).
You have a plot with no real beginning - something happens, somebody starts to get followed and although there is some explanation the origin of everything is left unclear.
Some of the sequences are genuinly scary, the music certainly adds to this, but that music plays at the exact right moments - it is what you see on screen and not what you hear that frightens.
There are some "not quite so good" parts - a setting towards the end, it's never really explained why they decided to go to a certain place, well it kind of.....
cannot really say any more, but the suggestion seems to come out of nowhere.

A brave ending for a film I'm assuming is going to be launched in the US - we all know they like a beginning, middle and a conclusive end - so a film with very little early explanation, and a far from conclusive ending I'm sure will annoy them.

I personally really enjoyed it, well worth a watch.

See this at an Odeon Screen Unseen showing a few weeks back.

Genuinely unsettling film with a great score.. I really liked it.

However.. the girlfriend didn't.. she just found it silly.

Not a fan of horrors either but this film is brilliant.

Saw it at the London Film Festival last year and it was the highlight for me. It's a unique take on a horror film and very well executed, if you liked Cabin in the Woods rebooting the horror genre then you'll probably like this too.

My nearest Vue didn't even show Nightcrawler or Place Beyond the Pines :(

Shrek 3 though, they'll show that 1000 times.

Saw it last night.

Lovely curve ball film - Very different vibe to modern jumper/slasher flicks. That's not to say it's utterly brilliant, but it's good IMHO.

There's a lovely low budget 80s vibe to it, even down to subtle things like all the TVs being CRT ones. And the score is extremely 80s too!

The premise is beautifly simple - not done as solidly as it could have been - but still good fun!

Anyway, it got in my head enough to give me a uncomfortable nights sleep last night with my brain working over how to keep getting away from "it"...

Finally got to see this, loved it, can only echo what others have said, soundtrack was great, styling was spot on. Glad to see something that does away with torture-gore-porn and jump scares and slowly builds up. If I still collected DVD's, i'd get this one.

Did you notice the odd thing with the TVs? ie: All seemed to be CRTs?

Yup, think this was to keep with the 80's vibe. The clothes and cars were pretty much the same as well. Even though they had moby's, they all looked a bit dated.

Thinking more deeply about it, there is a fleeting social comment about the 8 mile marker as they walk to the pool. Perhaps everything is old and outdated due to being based in Detroit where jobs are fairly scarce and they're making do with what they already have.
