Came back to my car today with a note. "Sorry, ive hit your car". She left her details etc on my windscreen, so at least i could get through to her to sort it out.

Driver side wing is stoved in, and the back of the door is bent. Just had it down the bodyshop for a quote, £500 + parts as an estimate, hes contacting me for a proper figure tomorrow. Needs a new wing for definate, and maybe a new door, we shall see. Car seems to be driving fine, she missed the wheel thankfully.

Annoying :(

Yes, although the person who hit you has messed up your car. I think it's worth expressing your appreciation to them for leaving their details. After the claim or payment for repair has been settled though, some people can change opinion very quickly after speaking to an "expert" friend.

To be fair to her - well done for leaving details. So many people wouldn't have.

Have you been in contact with her or your insurance yet?

Both. Mine knows about it and we have also contacted hers. We are going to try to put it all on her insurance, she has admitted to it being her own fault and our insurance agree, although it may take longer to do. Geting a letter off my insurance company soon then i need to contact them again to go about putting the claim staright over to her insurance. Hopefully it wont effect my premium next year too much, only had a car 3 months :(

As much as its annoying, if i see her again im certainly going to thank her for leaving the details, i know its rare it now.

Gutting, but I echo the comments above, at least she left her details. I saw a BMW 330ci the other day drive into the rear bumper of a Lexus in a carpark. Caused the rear fog to break and pushed the bumper in. I watched in amazment as the woman got out, checked her car, saw me looking, drove to another car parking space and get out.

This was in a supermarket, so I chased her into the entrance, where I told her that I had seen it, and that she should report it. I could tell she wasnt going too, so I got the help desk assistant to call the owner of the Lexus.

Mistakes happen, but I wish more people followed the example of the person who hit your car. (the note that is!)

Unlucky :( should it affect your premium at all though seeing as she hit you and admitted fault?

With some insurers it does.

I am with elephant and they charge me an extra £110 a year for a non fault acident.

I was hit a year ago in a car park (some old driver ploughed into 4 other cars as well - lost control  ) but he left the details - well, the entire bumper was by my car lol. Didn't cost me anything as Tesco insurance sorted it out.

Only the admiral group will quote me.. the only other quote that’s sensible is £400 more ..

I will change when i am 21.

Just be happy you did not get the note that says:

The people watching me write this note, think I'm writing my name and address for you to get in touch after hitting your car. I'm going to place it under your wiper now, wave to them and drive off. Sorry about the dent..

how lucky are you lol, i've been hit TWICE now, first time needed the rear quarter and front passenger door respraying and dent pulling out, this time someones caught my rear bumper when they were reversing out while i was at work, neither time had the drivers left details :(

All is going smoothly so far, got a load of messages on the answerphone today, one from patterson ford about the bodywork and booking it in, and other off my insurance company and another off hers. The insurance company has said it wonnt effect next years premium, which is nice.
