What a lovely morning surprise. My dad seems to think it wasnt someone who drove into but a thug who tryed to break it off.

Has someone given it a kick? :(

Had stuff like this happen where I used to live. People abused my gf's corsa, and some **** chucked eggs all over my car.

I set up cameras to keep an eye on the cars after that.

Mindless damage! does my nut in... why people feel the need to damage something that isnt theres i beyond me..

Hey, can you tell me what sort of system you got at all? Was looking to get something that will work well with the street lighting. I am just interested in capturing their faces so that I can go pick them out of the crowd over the playpark on a Fri/Sat night so doesn't need to store more than a couple of days of footage at a time

I used some camera's of ebay, they were about £40 each and work pretty good at night, i also got a DVR for around £200 with a 200gb harddisk, i have 4 camera's covering my property.

cheers bugone, will have a look at getting something set up like this. Software looks very good, does it support pan/tilt stuff too do you know, would be nice as we don't always get the same parking location each night?
Any recommendation on some cameras that can see in the dark/low light?
Do you just use a camera inside behind a window or use some sort of weatherproof job?

It's so bloody annoying when people do that.

I've seen them do it to my Dad's car. He had parked it in the road and we were walking back to it, we saw a group of lads sauntering down the pavement, one reached the car and just punched the wing mirror off and carried on walking as though it was like kicking a can on the floor.

They ran off when we shouted after them, and having handfuls of fishing tackle made a chase pointless but it's days like that you wish you had a rifle.

stuff like this really gets on my nerves. people pay good money on thier cars and some scrote comes along and damages it for no reason at all.
if you find the guy who ever done this make sure you give him a damn good kickin.

in the town center near us i heard a number of cars had cracks in thier wing mirrors like someone had gone round with a screwdriver jabbing at them. why the hell would someone want to do that

Sorry to hear of the damage Tinkerbell, but can I suggest when you get it fixed you get one from the scrappers.

I recently had an encounter with a concrete pillar, and VX wanted over £100 for a new wing morror and glass! It is a pain to fit however, as you need to take the inside of the door off

agreed, scrappy is best place to get the parts from.

was it a manual or electric mirror?

Judging by the wheel its an SXI, so it will have electric mirrors with heated glass (which I never knew until I had to replace it)

Will agree with Defcon here, avoid main dealers on this if at all possible.
Just replaced mine on my S4 last week. Eurocarparts did the whole thing (outer case, inner metal arm, motors, wiring loom and glass) for a pretty decent £50+VAT.
I had some toerag rip mine off the other week (was vandalized not nicked to order or an accident) hence my interest in CCTV

Nope it isn't an sxi, changed the wheels some time last year:p It is just a manual, wont go to a dealer dont worry;) my dad is a mechanic so he is going to look at getting a new mirror for me. Damn annoying when things like this happens.

Thanks for your help peeps
