Calling all people with similar job titles - do you get constant spam of sales calls/emails from people getting your job title online?

I'm literally getting around 40-50 emails a day from people getting my name on LinkedIn and guessing the email format despite my linked in requesting no sales calls/emails. These aren't "mass" emails that a spam filter would pick up either.
It's a real shame as I use LinkedIn for recruiting, etc so don't want to close my profile down :(

yes.. I'm not the IT manager, we don't have an official manager here but come lunch time our phones in the office don't stop ringing.

I don't get them from Linkedin thou as my profile is pretty much private, but it's from companies that we get quotes from, trial systems and brought stuff from in the past.

I think most of my contacts know not to bother me now especially on my lunch.. even my MD's PA don't bother me on lunch :) (Always 12:00 - 12:30)

Calls aren't so bad as I've never published my number and made sure to get a different one from the previous manager. It's just a crazy amount of email!

LinkedIn is just getting stupid now. Even if you post a link to something business related, some random Indian will comment with "yes plz I am interest in the job, plz check my profile". I also get emails from recruiters with "apologies for the direct approach but I am recruiting for a job which matches your skills". Then keep reading and the job doesn't match my skills whatsoever.

That's easy to deal with.

"Hi, yes I'm the IT manager - which company did you say you were calling from?"
*get company name*
"That's great thanks, I've added you to our list of 'suppliers not to use'"
*click*

Pretty much this.

I work for a well known company and I get the occasional cold callers via reception looking for me directly. Any third party supplier / middle man especially, get their name and add to "Not To Use" list.

It's a good place to keep in contact with business partners, colleagues etc without adding them on Facebook. Thankfully the inbox messages and request can be blocked or removed without being too invasive.

Could be worse...one large company I've worked out clearly had someone in HR selling records to 3rd parties, as everyone got a call on their internal line within a few weeks of starting, trying to sell financial advice!

LinkedIn professional allows you to see people who are marked as private and send an "inmail" which you can send without being a contact of someone. It's great for recruitment but terrible for spammers who want to get hold of your name.

It has become a bit tiresome with its constant tirade of inspirational crap and constant likes. I get 4 or 5 recruiters a week trying to bum me and frankly I don't like being bummed :(

I have noticed a lot more 'consultancy' types looking at my profile but thankfully we have caller id - I simply ignore any call from an unknown number especially if they don't have the decency to leave a message.

We have an internal and external ring for our phones so we can tell when someone is telesales, end users come thou on a helpdesk number not our private number.

Emails are dealt with on my own account by setting up a filter for every but our own domain, or sister domains and any other domain I decide to add to be filter to a guff folder, marked as read.
