Hope you can help me.
I am an MCTS in server 2003/2008. Although qualified I have little recent support experience.
In the past 12 months, I have had 3 IT Support contracts for small IT companies (4 or 5 people).
The first position lasted for 2 months before I had my contract terminated. I had no training and therefore no idea of the set up of the businesses I was supposed to be supporting.
The following 2 positions ended after a 1 month trial period. Again, no training, I was expected to be an 'all rounder' and to hit the ground running when what I needed was time to find my feet. They both suggested I consider an apprenticeship, which seems a bit extreme considering my qualifications.
My confidence is now on the floor. I think this combined with the fact that I can't touch type makes me look worse than I actually am.
So my question is where do I go from here?
Should I admit defeat and look for a new career (I'm 41)?
Would appreciate any advice.
