IT Technician to Network Manager?

A bit of both really, I've been pushing for a pay rise and my manager knows I deserve one for the level and amount of work I have to do so the easiest way to get me a decent pay rise was to be regraded as a senior IT tech rather than a regular techy trying to go up the pay scale

I did it, I would say being involved in the supervision of a Junior Tech made more of a difference then technical expertise.

Schools vary hugely, I even know one school who have an IT Network Manager and a Director of IT Services, but no technicians.

lol it sounds like every company has their own idea + needs for IT support.

I guess at the minute then, bit more experience, possibly new qualifications and some luck are the best things to have/work towards so I can at least cover most of the bases. I guess its just unfortunite that at my previous school there were no junior or senior tech roles, just 2 teccies + network manager (that from the sounds of it was more like a network engineer role)
