I know there are more than a few clever IT bods here so can anyone recommend a good guide/website for mock tests for the current ITIL exam? There are so many places to test myself but it's only good if their information is actually correct!

Yeah, depends on what level. I found it boring, hated it.

I did Foundation then Practioner a year later - it wasn't that much harder tbh.

It's just a tick box when contracting for government services.

Yes unfortunately though the ITIL foundation has managed to weasel its way (perhaps whilst flying on the back of a squirrel?) into government and enterprise and its becoming more and more of a necessity to pay them to sit an exam in said common sense.

Of course it's common sense, but all of these "frameworks" are. You still have to learn the ITIL/ Service management way though, and the acronyms and the questions are always worded with very similar answers.

I dislike itil. I don't see any justification as to why IT should log incidents anymore than marketing, hr, facilities and accounts don't have to log down everything they do. The only reason is so that they can keep track of what they are dealing with. Itil takes it to a whole new level with logging even things like a question.

Given that IT underpins pretty much every facet of a modern organisation I would think its fairly obvious why they should be logging incidents, problems, etc...

Yes, but IT has releases, which changes things, or introduces new complexity etc. so logging everything helps you then push this back in to the loop. If you do ITIL by the book, then it's massive overkill for sure, but the principal is sound.

We log things where I work then produce graphs that show people which users logged the most with It.. All without using itil. I don't see why it's so important to create a framework for it. It's not an important part of It and it can waste a lot of time. Often nothing is done with the call logs.

but then most normal IT departments would be doing this anyway. ive been logging incidents and fixes (etc etc) in different jobs for the last 15 years.

ITIL V3 Foundation is the entry level certification. It requires no course work or previous experience. The Foundation certification was designed so that you don't need to sit a course to pass just a textbook.

Yes it is foundation, and I like the idea of flying in on a bird! I'll get a handbook from amazon then.

Reliable mock tests I guess it's just a look at who is hosting them and be smart!

I wouldn't bother. I passed the Foundation without doing any more than reading up online.
