I'm was after a PDA for someone, so they can basically put their stuff from their diary (appointments, peoples birthdays, shopping lists etc) and put it in a PDA.

Seeing as that is the most basic application of a PDA i was looking at some iPaq models but a mate of mine told me to have a look at the iTouch. i can't find too much about the calender or appointments function to know if it would do what she wants. If it can do the extensive list i've put in the first paragraph, is the typing easy?

I know this is overkill but i'm sure she'll use the music and internet functions in time

Thanks

Viks

1. It's iPod touch, not iTouch. Sorry :p

2. The iPod touch can do everything you're looking for :)

Seconded, the software is simple and easy to use, plus its great for surfing the internet and obviously listening to music too.

What do you use? Mac or Windows?

I use windows but the person i'm buying it for is not hugely computer literate.

With regards to the iPod Touch, does it have an alarm clock function?

ive gone from a lovely dell axim x51v to the iphone which is the ipod touch with phone funtions i think. for type without a stylus pen and browsing its far better than any pda i have used

Yea iPod Touch with the latest software has the app store, internet etc. It just lacks the phone function.

Can iPod Touch synch appointments with Outlook via a calendar app? I would want something that can synch with Outlook when plugged into my PC and also something that lets me get my mail on the go from an Exchange server.

Still not quite sold on the iTouch tbh, yesit go go on the net... but it laks that it can go on the internet pn the go ala iPhone. I see no poin being able to go on the web in a Wi-fi reachable area... which usually to me mean there is a laptop/pc close by.
