Hi,

Just bought a 16gb iTouch from the Apple Store, got home it has 1.1.2 on it, should i update to 1.1.3, and how do i go about jailbreaking the thing, i have seen some stickies on the iPhone but does the same apply?

Thanks in advance :)

Ok but not sure how to go about this as i don't need to unlock it as it's a touch i just want to jailbreak the thing.

Do i need to downgrade to 1.1.1 then update or can i just jailbreak 1.1.2? also does anyone have a link.

Thanks

I had to restore my touch to 1.1.3 because it was skipping tracks half way through songs and generally playing up but after doing it I immediatly tried to get it back to 1.1.1.

I used this guide and got it back to 1.1.1 no problem using nothing but itunes 7.6.

A word of advice though - if you're on the 1.1.3 firmware and you hold the home button in for too long when trying to get the ipod into DFU mode you'll have to go through the restore to 1.1.3 even though the ipod already has it installed.

Also, I did this from Vista and not XP as Windows XP could not find the necessary DFU drivers for the ipod. Might be because I only have itunes 7.5 on my XP installation.

Anyway, don't worry if you're at 1.1.3 as it's easily changed.;)

Quick question now i have jailbroken the touch, i have a few apps etc installed, how do i get notes, mail stocks & weather??

Is there an easy way to do this?

Thanks

Stay put on 1.1.2 and Google, or go up to 1.1.3, INSTALL SSH! and then Google for the patch. :)

If you plan on going for the latter, for the love of God, make sure SSH works, you may need it. :p

Here's an update on this problem if anyone else is experiencing the same symptoms.

It seems that syncing the Ipod from Vista (X64 in my case) is the main cause of the problem and it is not caused by the jailbreak as I first feared. There are many people reporting the same symtoms on various websites and the general consensus is that when the sync is carried out from XP the problem doesn't occur.
