Virgin (really Blueyonder - a much better name!) have changed their Webmail to a google version.

This now doesn't download to more than one PC without a "frig" - you have to put "recent:" in front of the email address, e.g.,

recent:[email protected].

The only trouble is the iTouch characters available for entering email account data do NOT include the colon ":" - they are a limited subset of the ASCI characters - another limitation of the iTouch software!

Very shortsighted of Apple not to include all characters.

Hmmm.

I use "POP" and if I download the email to my PC first it never downloads to my ITouch. Virgin "Help (!) says:

How do I download mail to multiple POP email programs?

Important information for customers who download Virgin Media Mail using several email programs or on different computers or devices
To access your messages with multiple POP email programs, use recent mode in every client to make sure that all messages are made available, rather than only to the first client to access new mail. Recent mode fetches the last 30 days of mail, regardless of whether it's been sent to another POP client already.
To enable Recent mode, replace '[email protected]' in the Username field of your POP client settings with 'recent:[email protected]' and ensure that the Leave messages on server option in your POP client is enabled.

But I think I put this in the wrong field as now it won't send!

It is an iPod Touch (1st generation) with updated firmware - I call it "my iTouch" - touching isn't it!

(the pod bit seems irrelevant to me)

So with IMAP I rely on the Virgin server as my mail storage rather than downloading the mail to each device? Or how does it work? I have one PC and the iTouch (oops) the iPod Touch which I regularly use and have a copy of the emails on each (sometimes useful).

Advice please

Mel.
