It's a miracle

I've seen some of those videos where people have their cochlear implants turned on for the first time, their expression is amazing.
Very happy for you Dimple.

congrats. I am 90% deaf in my left ear, although since it has been since I was born I don't really know what its like to have 100% hearing. Had to get tests as a kid, but never offered a hearing aide. As I have grew older I have noticed it much more (during work with lots of background noise, I switch to my right to hear conversation). I am a big music lover also, I really want a £300 pair of headphones but kinda think whats the point hah.

Not had a huge impact on my life but as I have got older I have thought, meh would be good to see the difference! I am sure I would be stunned like yourself :).

I was lucky that I was still able to hear music in stereo as long as it was very loud and way beyond what most people can tolerate.
It was explained to me many years ago that I was 100% deaf at normal levels but at loud levels my right ear would act as a noise gate and let it through so I still had that enjoyment.
Funnily enough even though I stand in front of a loud rock band singing that wasn't loud enough to let it through.
At the moment my TV is on 15, it used to be on 50+

Strange. Today I was offered and given a Siemens hearing aide. after all these years and last night I comment on this thread then completely out of the blue a family member brought a unwanted / unused hearing aide home. The difference is very noticeable. It balances things out. If you have a set of headphones on and offset the right or left channel, get use to that then set it correct to you hearing you get a strange sense of the centre of your surroundings, everything seems much more defined. I know nothing of hearing aids, even if this is the right one for me. It's a Siemens Impact Pro L if anyone knows anything.

It is discrete and cannot be seen, looking forward to going into work with it tomorrow to see how I find it and then after the new year see a specialist to sort me something permanent for me out. Im already asking if they come with Bluetooth or wifi support to adjust settings, how great would that be :P. I doubt it though!

Merry Christmas OP, happy hearing :D

Woo-hoo!

It's not a miracle though, it's surgery what does it :D

Man made miracles :) the power of science is above all else.

OP Very happy for you, I simply can't imagine the pleasure you are having with this gift of hearing.

What a great Christmas present huh.

My old man has just had his cataracts done, he says he's like the Six Million Dollar man watching TV now and shows off by watching without his glasses.

He's still deaf as a post though and has the TV turned up to 11.

Oh and woo-hoo on your new upgraded hearing SGF.
