Finally Built my new Rig. All the Parts arrived today and I have spent all evening putting it together and installing software.

The system worked first time with no problems as yet. Going to run something like FEAR or Battlefield 2142 tomorrow with all the eye candy on to give it a good stress test.

The Rig is as follows:

Processor: C2D E6600 @ Stock (for now)
Memory: 2Gig Corsair Dominator Ram PC6400 @ Stock
Motherboard: EVGA NForce 680i
GPU: EVGA 8800GTS ACS3 640MB @ Stock
PSU: Corsair 620W
HDD: WD Caviar 250Gig 16MB S-ATA II
Optical: Samsung DVD RW S-ATA
Case: Akasa Eclipse 62 (its HUGE!)
Fans: Scythe 1200rpm x2

Now I need a Couple of months to pair this up with a Nice Dell 24" 2407WFP and a decent set of Cans for the sound.

One Question. I have a system monitoring utility (was on the System Drivers Disk) that shows my PCI - E not getting enough Juice (there is a Red Spot next to it) Does anyone else have this and should I be concerned.

Before anyone asks I do intend to overclock this system but I need to get a few parts and practice. BTW anyone know what sort of OC I can expect on the Stock Intel cooler?

Once All the Boxes are cleaned away and the room cleaned I will post some Pics.

Sounds good mate, a big improvement on the spec in your sig. You can update that now too! ;)

Will be good to see some pics, always nice to see new builds.

edit: you have updated the sig now lol.

Wow, appart from the case and and hard drive thats exactly the same rig as i built last week. I'm at stock to on the cpu and will look to overclock once i get a better cooler :D

Don't be hesitant to overclock it on stock, it should do a fair bit more on stock Vcore.

Edit: Corsair 620s are good for SLI GTXs, Quad core, watercooling and loads of HDDs at the same time, so I find it hard to believe that a single GTS is stressing it.

You can overclock with intel's stock cooler easy enough. I hit 3ghz on intel's stock cooler with my E4300 (1.2ghz oc)

Regarding the power issue, I had something similar with my card and it was the fact that I hadn't plugged in all the adaptors into the card. There was an extra fan-style plug required. Worth checking anyway.

Yup quite agree as i have done a bit of reading but you have to ask yourself "do i really need to?" At the moment i can play the games i have at 1680x1050 with eye candy maxed and the system seems to handle it. The only reason i got the components i did is to try and future proof a purchase (if there is such a thing in pc's) ;)

she is running atm with no problems. If I overclock should I fit the Additional NB fan that came with the Chipset?

No need to O/C yet as I am only using a 17" CRT. However when I get the new 24" I will need to OC for the extra Resolution.

I am running the SLi Mode in the Bios which is running my memory unlinked at 4-4-4-12. I dont know about the Voltage so I have left this alone. If it starts getting unstable I may put a few more 0.1v though to see if that improves things. According to the Bios the Memory Voltage is 1.9 atm

Going to run FEAR through her later to see what that does and I intend to get Battlefield 2142 to really put the Machine through its Paces.

Nice setup mate ;)
Good choice with the evga 680i and e6600 and corsair 620w hx ;) ;)

True but, better cooling will keep temps to a low ;)

As for Cooling I was going to get a Arctic Cooling Pro 7 HSF. I was going to get it when I ordered the system however OcUK had none in stock.

This will be added to my order when I get the 24" Widescreen I have promised myself but I am going to have to wait at least 3 months for that.

This was one area i was a bit unsure on when i built mine. The default bios setting seems to pump 1.8-1.9 volts into the corsair dominator ram but the corsair website states that it should be 4-4-4-12 at 2.1 volts. I changed mine to match Corsairs recomendation, not had a prob so far (2 weeks in) but have heard horror stories of ram getting fried after a month :o
